Phyllis Custer is an expert in marketing to seniors and event marketing. She has developed marketing products targeted to the 50-plus market for AT&T, BMW, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and The Art Institute of Chicago. Phyllis has developed successful sponsorship and integrated marketing programs for not-for-profit and for-profit organizations including the Museum of Science & Industry and The Taste of Chicago. She is an effective public speaker and a world-class networker.
As a consultant for Insight Consulting, Phyllis concentrates on business development and sales activities. She helps clients sharpen their focus by showing them the value of market research, targeted marketing strategies, and effective marketing communications. Phyllis developed the first program in the United States that provided a single source for older adult services in the home for Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. For a long-term health care provider, she identified markets and customer prospects for its in-house sales force, developed competitive points of difference in products and conducted public education and awareness campaigns. During positions at two senior housing facilities, Phyllis focused on external marketing, public relations, community outreach, and branding programs. As an entrepreneur, Phyllis developed successful sponsorship and integrated marketing programs for not-for-profit and for-profit organizations. She worked with clients in the food and beverage, banking, communications, real estate, national retail, and other industries to develop insightful marketing plans including specific objectives, marketing budget, return on investment and project timelines. Her extensive community involvement includes volunteering for the American Cancer Society, the Family Counseling Service of Evanston & Skokie Valley, Keshet's Kids. She was the Village of Skokie Humanitarian of the Year in 1988. Phyllis is a Board Member and Vice-Chair of Sponsorships for the Northwest Suburban Alliance of Commerce (NSACI) and won its Distinguished Member Award for 2005. She was President of Skokie Valley Kiwanis Club from 2001-2003. She is on the Women's Board of Rush North Shore Medical Center, The CEDA Board, and a member of Sales & Marketing Executives of Chicago since 1998. Phyllis has a B.S. in marketing from Northern Illinois University.
